Conoid ... a hybrid blown glass edition
The kaleidoscopes in this edition are handblown into various cone-like shapes.
During the blowing process, colored frit, along with a small amount of dichroic,
is worked into the body.

After cutting and grinding the blown glass tube to size, a tapered two mirror system
is enclosed producing perfect 10 point images.

The free-turning, dry object cell contains a diverse assortment of lampworked glass,
cut glass and dry ampules filled with handmade glass beads, all hand selected
and created specifically to produce incredibly random and color balanced images.

These kaleidoscopes are all about 8 inches tall.

Edition of 7 ... (3) Black; (4) White

These two kaleidoscopes were created during the same
sessions as the making of the “Conoid” edition.

The body of the scope on the left was created by melting, mixing and swirling four colors of reactive glass on the end of the blowpipe. This molten glass was then blown out and worked into its final shape. It stands 8” tall.

The blue body of the kaleidoscope on the right was blown to size, then wrapped with a thin line of molten pink glass. While molten, the pink lines were raked across the body, then blown to its final size. This scope is 7.5“ tall.

Both kaleidoscopes feature tapered two-mirror systems producing large 10 point images.

The free-turning dry object cells cntain a variety of lampworked glass, cut glass and dry ampules filled with handmade glass beads, all selected to coordinate with the exterior colors and create infinitely random images.
